Piano Studio
About Ingrid's studio
I maintain a studio of approximately 35 private piano students. My commitment level is very high to my students and I delight in making this a very personalized learning experience.

Starting age
Because I teach primarily via the traditional method (reading notes), usually 5 years of age is the youngest that works well. Often a trial period of several weeks can be the best way to determine if a child is ready for piano lessons.

Itinerant piano lessons
A unique service I provide is coming to your home to teach your student. My clients find this tremendously simplifying & upon my calculations, it does reduce fossil fuel emissions (especially if you see me pedal up to your house in the summer).

Auditions
Prior to accepting transfer students of an intermediate or advanced level, I meet with student and parent in order to hear his or her playing skill and to answer any questions.

Recitals and Performances
Music is a performing art and therefore students are expected to participate in performances. Semester recitals and studio classes are required and fees expected. Scale Olympics, school Solo/Ensemble, festivals are encouraged, but optional.

Adult student options
I have a good deal of experience teaching adult students of all abilities. I allow flexibility in scheduling for adults. The Semester Piano Cafe's (our adults only performance in my home served with lunch) has become a treasured event.

Studio Classes
Studio classes are held once or twice per year in my home. These are informal opportunities for students to play for their peers in preparation for upcoming performances. Divided into beginners or intermediate/advanced students, we also do other music educational activities as a group.

Schedule
Because I also maintain an active performing schedule, re-scheduling a lesson can be done only seldom.

Rates
I offer 30 minute lessons at a rate of $32. For adult students, the rate is $28. More advanced students (or younger ones with very keen interest) will be considered for 45 minute lessons at $45 each. A discounted rate of $28 for 30 minute lessons will be given to additional students in one family. Secure & reliable online lesson fee payment option is now available.

Policies
Credit will only be given for cancellations due to illness or emergency. If an activity conflicts with the lesson time and we are unable to reschedule, I must charge you for that lesson. An adult besides myself must be in the home during the time of the lesson.

Apprentice program
I offer an apprentice program for piano students who are considering music as a career choice the opportunity of gaining "hands-on" experience while earning rewards. Click the apprentice button for more information.

Scale Olympics
This is a contest I offer to my students periodically. Students are entered into one of several class based upon skill level, practice the scales for that level, and then perform for a judge. Prizes are awarded for this event.
